I Tested Every Blonde Hair Oil So You Don’t Have To (Then I Formulated My Own)

I’m Louisa, founder of She’s Thick, and if there’s one thing I’ve spent years doing, it’s testing every hair oil I could get my hands on.
I’ve been blonde since I was 14. Highlights, bleach, toners: you name it, I’ve done it. And for just as long, I’ve been trying to repair bleached hair, reduce breakage and figure out how to actually grow longer, thicker hair without giving up my blonde.
A few years ago, after experiencing severe hair thinning from bleach, heat damage and stress, I went into full “fix my hair” mode. That’s when my obsession with hair oils began. I tried everything.
Why Most Hair Oils Don’t Work for Blonde and Bleached Hair
At first, I thought hair oils would be the answer. But the more I tested, the more I realised something important: Most hair oils are not made for blonde or bleached hair.
Here’s what I kept running into:
1. They’re too heavy
A lot of oils are designed for very thick or dark hair types. On blonde hair, they weigh the hair down and sit on the surface instead of absorbing properly. This made my fine, highlighted hair feel limp instead of healthy.
2. They can affect blonde tone
This was a big one. Many natural oils have a deep yellow or gold tint, which dulls blonde highlights and (even worse) make blonde hair look brassy over time.
As someone who has always loved bright, clean blonde, this was a dealbreaker.
3. They don’t support scalp health properly
Most oils are marketed for “length” or “shine,” but very few actually focus on the scalp—the real foundation of hair growth.
Without a healthy scalp, blonde hair growth is limited no matter what you put on the ends.
4. They don’t address bleach damage
Bleached hair isn’t just dry—it’s structurally weakened. Most oils coat the hair, but don’t do much to reduce breakage or support regrowth.
So I was left with products that felt nice… but didn’t actually change my hair.
The Turning Point: Why I Started Formulating My Own Oil
After months of testing product after product, I realised something simple. If I wanted a hair oil that actually worked for blonde and bleached hair, I would have to make it myself.
So I went back to basics. I started researching lightweight, scalp-friendly oils and formulas that wouldn’t affect blonde colour.
That process eventually became She’s Thick Hair Growth Oil. I created it specifically for women like me—women with blonde and bleached hair who want real hair repair without compromising colour.
Here’s what makes it different:
✔ Designed for blonde and bleached hair
Lightweight, colour-safe and made so it doesn’t dull or shift blonde tones.
✔ Focuses on scalp-first hair growth
Supports scalp health through rosemary-infused botanical oils to help encourage stronger growth from the root.
✔ Helps reduce breakage and shedding
Formulated to strengthen weakened strands caused by bleach and heat damage.
✔ Lightweight, non-greasy finish
Absorbs easily into the scalp without weighing down fine blonde hair.
✔ Supports longer, thicker hair over time
Created to help you grow length while improving density and strength.
She’s Thick was born from my frustration, trial and error, and a very personal journey with bleach damage and hair thinning. It worked WONDERS for me, and hopefully it helps on your hair journey too.
